After several years of falling industrial production in 2016, a slight increase began, as evidenced by the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine.
According to the results of 11 months, industrial production grew by 2.1%, while in November the growth was 3.7%. Positive results were achieved for the first time in four years. The full 2016 is expected to increase in the range of 2.3-2.5%.
The contribution of industry to economic growth, which amounted to about 1.5% over 9 months, according to estimates by Goskomstat analysts is about 0.7 percentage points, that is, almost half of all economic growth.
This year there is a rise in the processing industry, while the mining industry lags behind.
Among the processing industries, we can single out food, beverages and cigarettes, which grew by almost 3%, coke and oil products production – 8.6%, and especially metallurgy – 6.4%. It is worth noting that in 2016 all the Ukrainian metallurgical industry actually received a carte-blanche, as indicative export prices for steel jumped by almost 90%, which significantly affected the development of the industry as a whole.
Industry leaders in terms of share in sales remained unchanged: food products, metallurgy and electricity generation.
